Outline of TGS Forum 2004 targeted for game industry participants

TOKYO GAME SHOW 2004 will be held from September 24 (Fri.) through 26 (Sun.) at the Nippon Convention Center (Makuhari Messe, Chiba City). Tokyo Game Show 2004 will be organized by Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA; chairman: Kenzo Tsujimoto, location: Tokyo) and co-organized by Nikkei Business Publications, Inc. (Nikkei BP; President & CEO: Yukoh Kawamura, location: Tokyo). The finalized exhibition outline was announced today. We will continue to receive the special sponsorship of NTT DoCoMo,Inc.

As of August 6, 116 companies are scheduled to exhibit in 1,481 booth units, exceeding the 111 companies in 1,426 booth units at last year’s show. While maintaining a core focus on home-use game software, this year’s exhibits will cover the overall field of computer entertainment, including PC games, mobile phone games, online games, development tools and graphic chips.

The main visual for TOKYO GAME SHOW 2004, designed in keeping with the event theme “A Brand New Sensation for Everyone in the World.” With the motif of building blocks symbolizing playing, the main visual expresses the potential and delight that “new amusement”, i.e. “brand new sensations” provide, furthering the evolution of global entertainment.

On Business day, September 24 (Fri.), a conference targeted for industry participants “TGS Forum 2004” will be held. “TGS Forum 2004” will include conference sessions dedicated to the latest game industry trends in business and technology. At each conference session, lectures and panel discussions by well-known game creators from home and abroad will be held.

1. Main Visual
Message: A visualization of this year's theme “A Brand New Sensation for Everyone in the World,” expressing the potential and delight that “new amusement”, i.e. “brand new sensations” provide, furthering the evolution of global entertainment.
The motifs of piled building blocks symbolizing playing are loftier and higher than buildings, symbolizing a metropolis.
The colorfully painted stacked building blocks stare at the world from far away.
Under this year’s theme “A Brand New Sensation for Everyone in the World,“ Tokyo Game Show 2004 hopes to send “brand new sensations” in the form of “new amusement” to the world.
Brand new sensations, never before seen or felt, further the evolution of not only the game industry but also the global entertainment scene.
This hope of ours is expressed by accompanying slogan “The new world starts here.“

2. Online registration for Advance Tickets
Overseas visitors are able to register online for advance tickets on the official TGS website (http://tgs.cesa.or.jp/english). A hotel reservation service is also available on the site.
