TOKYO GAME SHOW 2003 REPORT
This year’s
theme-- “A Playful Spirit Can Change
the World”
A big success with about 150,000 visitors
over 3 days--exceeding last year!
TOKYO GAME SHOW 2003 was held from September
26 (Fri) through 28 (Sun) under the theme
“A Playful Spirit Can Change the
World.” The organizer was Computer
Entertainment Supplier’s Association
<CESA>, and the co-organizer was
Nikkei Business Publications, Inc. The
show was very well attended with a total
150,089 visitors over 3 days.

A total 111 exhibitors--the highest number
ever--joined this 13th Tokyo Game Show.
Game software companies, game software
development tool companies, and game colleges
from Korea, Taiwan, the U.S. and Japan
exhibited more than 500 new video game
software and game-related peripherals.
Online games and mobile phone game, which
was well over last year’s show,
drew a lot of attention in the venue as
well as a wide variety of new game software
including Family, Action, and Role-Playing
games. Expanded “Kids’ Area”
and “Table Game Stadium” also
enjoyed big popularity. Kids Play Area
where kids can play analog games was created
in the Kids’ Area. At the Table
Game Stadium, a corner of digital board
games was newly established.
The next Tokyo Game Show is scheduled
to be held from September 24 (Fri) through
26 (Sun), 2004.
