Tokyo -- July 15, 2002 -- TOKYO GAME SHOW 2002 will be held from September
20 (Fri.) to 22 (Sun.) at Nippon Convention Center (Makuhari Messe
at Chiba-city, Chiba, Japan). TOKYO GAME SHOW 2002 will be organized
by COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT SUPPLIER'S ASSOCIATION (CESA, chairman:
Kenzo Tsujimoto, location: Nishi-Shimbashi, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan)
and co-organized by Nikkei Business Publications, Inc. (Nikkei BP,
President & CEO: Yukoh Kawamura, location: Hirakawa-cho, Chiyoda-ku,
Tokyo, Japan). This show will be supported by the Ministry of Economy,
Trade and Industry under the special sponsorship of NTT DoCoMo.
CESA and Nikkei BP position TOKYO GAME SHOW 2002 as "the world's greatest
festival of games." This event will introduce a wide variety of computer
entertainment, including video game software, together with opportunities
to actually experience them.
The theme of TOKYO GAME SHOW 2002 is "Playing Is in Our DNA." Playing
is something that everyone enjoys. Evolving constantly, plays are
handed down from generation to generation. It is just like the DNA
that sustains life as the main component of human genes. At TOKYO
GAME SHOW 2002, we will strongly appeal that computer entertainment
is the newest form of satisfying the desire to play -- a desire that
is in our DNA.
A total of 75 companies including members and non-members of CESA
are scheduled to exhibit in TOKYO GAME SHOW 2002. The number of booths
is 1,275 as of June 27, 2002.

2. Main visual: Pass the "controller gate" to a new entertainment
world
|
|
The main visual of TOKYO
GAME SHOW 2002 is a computer graphics design entitled "the world's
greatest festival of games." It expresses the entrance to the
world of games with a "controller gate" in the motif of a game
controller and robots. The game controller represents home video
games and the robots represent computer entertainment that goes
beyond conventional video games.
The main visual shows children, businesspersons and women heading
for the "controller gate" and the world's greatest festival
of games, TOKYO GAME SHOW, held beyond it. Its aim is to appeal
the strong attention and anticipation that computer entertainment
attracts as a playing pleasure for all.
