"Tokyo Game Show 2000 Autumn" will be held for 3 days from September 22nd (Fri.) through September 24th (Sun) at Makuhari Messe (Nippon Convention Center, Chiba City, Chiba Pref.) with the organizing of Computer Entertainment Software Association (CESA), the support of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, the special sponsorship of NTT DoCoMo, the sponsorship of SEGA ENTERPRISES, Sony Computer Entertainment, and NINTENDO, and the cooperation of Microsoft.

The show will be held at Hall No.1 through No.8 in Makuhari Messe covering a total area of approximately 54,000u, with welcoming 63 exhibitors in 1,066 booth units. The theme of Tokyo Game Show 2000 Autumn is "The Entertainment of Your Life." We are having nearly 400 titles appeared including pre-registered 334 titles and the others to surprising debut during the session.

Of the particular note is newly established " Venture Booth," an exclusive space for trying video games, and "Network Entertainment Corner," a space for network contents including online and network games. At Kids' Corner, we newly established "Sales Corner," where special video game goods for children are available. We have tried to heighten the enjoyment of the show for all attendants.

Tokyo Game Show has been receiving international attention since its launch. Now its role as international leading exhibition is coming more important. The computer entertainment is already a part of our life, but Tokyo game show indicates the possibilities of the computer entertainment industry in the world and the further development of the industry in Japan.

With the appearance of new platform and the construction of information infrastructure, such as the Internet and cellular phone, the field of the video games and the variety of the users are being widened. Tokyo Game Show are supposed to be an important event indicating that computer entertainment is crossing over the old range and entering into new fields.

■ Feature of "Tokyo Game Show 2000 Autumn"

The organizer, CESA, newly established "Venture Booth," an exclusive space for trying video games, and "Network Entertainment Corner," an exclusive space for network contents, where effective PR on the video game software for the users will be available in distinction from other booths.

At Kids' Corner, we newly established "Sales Corner," where special video games goods for children are available. Many stage show, such as face painting, balloon arts and juggling by circus clown, will be held at the stage. At the entrance of Kids' Corner, "Photography Corner" is set up. Kids' Corner has changed into more enjoyable space.

In addition, "CESA.GAME.COM," the game portal site managed by CESA, has been featuring Tokyo Game Show 2000 Autumn on its special pages from September 12. During the session of three days, the latest information including events schedule is available on i-mode. (http://www.cesagame.com/i)

■ The trend of titles found in the "Tokyo Game Show Autumn"

By genre, from the top of the list, action rank first, followed by simulation and roll-playing. The action increased the share by 4.9 points and the simulation increased by 5.6 points, while the roll-playing having had a lion's share reduce it to 12.2% by 2 points and adventure also reduce the share by 2.8 points. The others that are not categorized in any also reduce its share to 26.5% by 6.4 points, compared to the figure of the last time. The non-categorized titles, however, still keep its large share. It is because that the combining of the genres and the development of new genre are being proceeded with the maturation of software development technology and the appearance of new sophisticated hardware. The pleasure of video games is supposed to be increased.

By platform, the new generation hardware has steadily increased its share, and software for portable game machine keep its popularity. Software for personal computers is increasing among overseas exhibitors.

In addition, game contents for the portable terminal "i MODE" are exhibited in earnest at this show. The Internet-compatible cellular phones will attract the attention of the game users.
